KGI was founded in 2011, initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the U.S. Coast Guard. KGI has used this experience to expand our service offerings to other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Position Summary:
KGI is seeking a full-time, experienced Human Resource Assistant. The Human Resources Assistant will help organize, coordinate, and carry out all company human resource department projects and processes. They will work directly with and assist the human resources team in fulfilling various HR tasks. This includes onboarding, offboarding performing new hire orientations, and ensuring that HR procedures are followed. The Human Resources Assistant will help maintain positive employee relations and work to ensure worker satisfaction through education on HR policies and fostering a positive work environment. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and, most importantly, personable and approachable.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation.
- Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.; refers more complex questions to appropriate senior-level HR staff or management.
- Maintains the integrity and confidentiality of human resource files and records.
- Performs periodic audits of HR files and records to collect and file all required documents appropriately.
- Provides clerical support to the HR department.
- May assist with payroll functions, including processing, answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, and distributing checks.
- Acts as a liaison between the organization and external benefits providers and vendors, including health, disability, and retirement plan providers.
- Conducts or assists with new hire orientation.
- Assists with maintaining company compliance and certifications.
- Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, holiday parties, and retirement celebrations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience working with and knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while exceeding established goals and objectives.
- Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn payroll management, human resource information systems (HRIS), and similar computer applications.
- Able to interact effectively with internal and external customers in various positions.
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field required; equivalent experience considered in lieu of degree.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in an administrative role.
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a Human Resources Role.
- Experience working in a federal government contracting environment is a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of direct experience onboarding and offboarding employees.

- U.S. citizenship required
