The Kenific Group, Inc. (KGI) is a private, small business based in the Washington, DC, area. KGI was founded in 2011, initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the US Coast Guard. Our service offerings have grown in the past ten years, including infrastructure resiliency, contact center operations, information technology, software engineering, program management, strategic communications, engineering, and cybersecurity. We have also grown our customer base to include commercial clients. KGI has used this experience to expand our service offerings to other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS).

Position Overview:

The Kenific Group is seeking a Mid-Level Data Engineer with a background in the architecture of data-centric technical solutions, which is technically proficient and eager to learn. A successful candidate should have hands-on experience with data modeling, warehousing, and ETL pipelines. They will be able to communicate clearly and effectively with engineers and less technical team members (e.g., project managers, customers, and executive teams).

Responsibilities:

• Inform product decisions by analyzing customers' technology landscape, business processes, and data requirements.
• Develop data pre-processing and analytics code using Python, R, and similar languages to support client requirements.
• Contribute to ETL pipeline solutions that ingest and process data from many distinct sources.
• Create and manipulate cloud-based data warehouse(s) that provide inputs to predictive models.
• Work within a growing engineering team to build and support technical solutions across customers and projects.
• Collaborate with team leads/members to design and develop solutions that exceed customer expectations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• Well-rounded and willing to learn/contribute meaningfully across technical areas of our projects.
• Strong experience with Python.
• Three (3) to five (5) years of professional, hands-on experience in a data engineering role.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and organized.

Clearance Requirements:

• US. citizenship required
• Must be able to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

Work Location:

• Fairfax, VA

Preferred Skills:

• Working knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology
• AWS (Amazon Web Services) and/or Microsoft Azure. Certification(s) a plus.
• Experience using big data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, HBase, Spark, EMR, etc.)
• SQL, relational and non-relational databases
• Experience with AI/ML a plus
