Company Overview:

The Kenific Group, Inc. (KGI) is a private, small business based in the Washington, DC area. KGI was founded in 2011, initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the U.S. Coast Guard. KGI has used this experience to expand our service offerings to other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Position Overview:

KGI is seeking a marine electrical engineer who will support the USCG ship design team with day-to-day operations and design spiral in support of the numerous program offices. The right candidate will provide subject matter expertise in design support of all new surface assets, as well as assist in the review of third-party design modifications and improvements. Candidate will also evaluate constructability, help resolve technical issues, and manage information generated through the design and construction phases of multiple and concurrent projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Plans and performs high-level engineering analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and implementation of complex solutions that require a thorough knowledge of higher mathematics, scientific, and technical skills
  • Designs and prepares engineering reports and related documentation with charts and graphs to record results
  • Prepares and delivers presentations and briefings
  • Reviews work products of journeyman electrical engineers

Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Professional Engineer's license plus seven years of relevant experience OR a high school diploma plus 10 years of relevant experience
  • Three years of progressive experience in one of the following:
    • electric propulsion systems
    • machinery control systems
    • power generation and distribution systems
    • interior communication systems
  • Experience supporting a major system acquisition program (DHS/USCG Level I, DoD ACAT I or equivalent), specifically shipbuilding acquisitions
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ability to work independently and take a proactive role
  • U.S. citizenship required – must be able to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with integrated power systems, electric propulsion, EZPower software (short circuit, power flow and arc flash analysis), high-voltage distribution systems (5,000 volt), power quality/total harmonic distortion, voltage dip
  • Previous experience with Coast Guard or DHS
  • Degree in naval or electrical engineering
  • Shipboard and electronics experience
