The Kenific Group, Inc. (KGI) is a private, small business based in the Washington, DC area. KGI was founded in 2011, initially providing acquisition and supply chain management services to the U.S. Coast Guard. KGI has used this experience to expand our service offerings to other agencies within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Position Overview:
The right candidate will support KGI's efforts with the U.S. Coast Guard on the In-Service Vessel Sustainment team. You should have at least a bachelor's in Naval, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, with experience in major DHS acquisitions.
Responsibilities:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Professional Engineer's license plus 10 years of relevant experience OR a high school diploma plus 20 years of relevant experience
- 5 years of progressive experience in one of the following:
- electric propulsion systems
- machinery control systems
- power generation and distribution systems
- interior communication systems
- Experience supporting a major system acquisition program (DHS/USCG Level I, DoD ACAT I or equivalent), specifically shipbuilding acquisitions
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external customers
- Ability to work independently and take a proactive role
- U.S. citizenship required – must be able to obtain/maintain Secret clearance.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with shipboard mechanical systems or integrated power systems, electric propulsion, EZPower software (short circuit, power flow and arc flash analysis), high-voltage distribution systems (5,000 volt), power quality/total harmonic distortion, voltage dip
- Previous experience with Coast Guard or DHS
- Degree in naval or electrical engineering
- Shipboard and electronics experience
